"I assure you,if this issue is not resolved decisively,on Wednesday,by Thursday, you're going to be thick in the middle of a Senate investigation, and all that entails. I don't think that's a good outcome." Hawaii Governor Neil Abercrombie on a voice mail to UH-Manoa president MRC Greenwood on August 16th,2012.
"In order for this university(UH-Manoa) to maintain it's accreditation and its credibility,I think we have to be free to make our own personnel decisions independent of political pressure. In the midst of this process, the university was subjected to political pressure to reverse the decision and to reinstate the Athletic Director (Jim Donovan).
"Of course the pressure was inappropriate. But Greenwood is being paid-overpaid half a million dollars a year-to stand up for the university and represent our (UH faculty) interests. In this situation, she should have refused any attempts to intimidation and gone public with the pressures she was under." UH-Manoa Ethnic Studies Professor Noel Kent in an e-mail interview.
